Protecting Our Waters Through the Drought

Sussex is experiencing one of its driest spells in recent years, and our fisheries are feeling the effects. With water levels dropping significantly, we’ve made the difficult but necessary decision to close a couple of our waters to protect the fish that live there.

We’re not waiting for a crisis to develop. Low water brings falling oxygen levels, rising temperatures, and real stress on fish stocks, so we’re acting early. We’re working closely with the Environment Agency, monitoring conditions across all our waters and drawing on their support and expertise to manage the situation safely. The affected water will reopen as soon as conditions allow.

This is the kind of proactive approach our club is committed to — our waters and fish are why we exist, and protecting them is central to what we do.
